Inaugural Release
The Sea & a Rose is a small side-project of William Lane Wine Co. focused on using innovative winemaking techniques and blending that is not bound by conventions to produce unique, expressive California wines.
Our inaugural release features “Ghost Pinot” (a white wine made primarily from Pinot Noir, blended with Chardonnay) and “Noirdonnay” (a red wine, made primarily from Chardonnay juice fermented on the skins of Pinot Noir, blended with Nero d’Avola).
The release will be sold in 3 packs. Complimentary local delivery in San Francisco and the East Bay. We are offering heavily discounted, $10 flat-rate shipping on all orders. The 2023 ‘Noirdonnay’ is made from the juice of Chardonnay fermented on the skins of lightly-pressed Pinot Noir, blended with 10% Nero d’Avola. This wine drinks like a Pinot Noir with a subtle tropical twist, pronounced aromatics, and a juicy, structured mouthfeel. If you like Pinot Noir, this is a must try. Enjoy it like you would any red, or give it a slight chill.
The NV ‘Ghost Pinot’ is made from Pinot Noir (v2023) that was pressed to remove the juice from the skins and fermented like a white wine, blended with Chardonnay (v2022). Both wines spent extended time on their yeast lees, which builds creaminess and texture. This is our take on still wine from Champagne. The palate is full of orchard and citrus fruit notes, accented by flinty, chalky minerality. We expect this wine to age beautifully, so grab an extra to stash away if you can.
